17TH Annual Food & Wine Tasting Event - November 4, 2011
On Friday, November 4, Harmony House/CASA Program of La Porte County, Inc. hosted their 17th Annual Wine & Food Tasting themed Imagine the CASA-bilities to raise both program awareness and needed funds to continue their efforts to support local children currently caught in the court and child welfare system. Almost 200 people enjoyed an evening of food, spirits and fun.
New to the event was a live self-less auction. Winning bidders donated their items back to the program, to be gifted to a deserving foster child. The auction included items like a BMX bike, an American Girl Doll, YMCA package and more. Participants included: Arturo’s Baked Goods and More, Bridges Grille To Go, Café Elite and Catering, Cookery TT, Great Lakes Catering and Special Events, Ivy Tech Community College – Hospitality Department, Sahara Restaurant, Shady Creek Winery, Shoreline Brewery and Bottle Shop I & II with Carroll Wine and Spirits and Winding Road. Underwriting for the event is provided by: Foster Printing Services, IU Health La Porte Hospital, NIPSCO, WIMS AM 1420 and The Bottle Shop I & II.

Join us as thousands of CASA volunteers throughout the state rally at the Indiana State House to combine voices and be heard for our children. All participants receive a free tee-shirt to be worn at the event. Need not be a volunteer to participate - all friends of children are welcome. Registration for the event is coming soon! Abused and neglected children are real in La Porte County. They need a voice to be heard in court. To share their story. To insure the best outcome possible for their future. To know that someone cares. The CASA Program of La Porte County is taking completed applications for their Spring 2012 training session now. The next volunteer training session will be held April, 2012. An intensive six-week training session is offered, in La Porte. There, volunteers are prepared to appear in court, write court reports, interact with children needing our support, learn how poverty and substance abuse effects children and the family, and more.
If you would like to become a CASA volunteer and make a difference in the children's lives in our community, download the application through the CASA application tab to the left and return it to: Harmony House / CASA, 1005 Michigan Avenue, La Porte, IN 46350 today.
